The Audience Loves the Originals You've got to play cover tunes to make a living, it seems. The Revolving Doors believes there are only two 'kinds' of music, 'Good' and 'Bad'. And they also believe they only play the former, 'Good'! But to really express yourself as a musician and band member, the guys know that original songs is where it's at, so to speak. They are working on original songs to perform live and at this point only have a handful that are ready. Whenever they do perform their own stuff, however, the audience always love's them. A couple of the songs are instrumentals which go over great. One is an abstract number affectionally called 'Merlin' which uses the whole tone scale and is a free form impromptu piece that is never the same but always exciting. Another is called 'Progressive Discourse' which drives really tight with a great beat and underlying bass pattern. Their lyrical originals are also recieved well. The lyrics are and must be from the heart so they are personal, the guys wouldn't have it any other way. Their the blues number 'Original Sin' that is an irony on love versus lust. Another, 'Time Has Changed', has an up tempo driving beat that reminds us that nothing stays the same. When you get a chance to see the guys live ask for an orignal song and they'll be happy to deliver. |
